Main Bathroom Renovation In Edinburgh

Our client, who was considering renovating their main bathroom, visited our Edinburgh showroom seeking ideas and inspiration for their new bathroom. While exploring our fully functional displays, they were impressed by our unique designs and premium products, each thoughtfully curated to suit every home. Our client felt truly inspired and knew exactly what they wanted for their main bathroom renovation in Edinburgh.

Design Brief

Our client wanted a spacious bathroom with plenty of room to move comfortably. They envisioned separate bath and shower areas, with a large shower space that includes an ergonomic seat for added comfort and ease of use during longer showers. They wanted ample storage options to keep their bathroom organised and clutter-free. Our client also envisioned incorporating wallpaper into the design to add character and a personalised touch to the space.

Bathroom Survey

We arranged a bathroom survey with the client to fully understand their vision and assess how it could fit within the available space. During the visit, we also assessed the technical aspects involved in the renovation. Through relaxed and open conversation, we gained insight into the client’s preferred colours, materials, and product styles, as well as how they intended to use the space. This allowed us to create a truly personalised bathroom design that reflects their style and needs.

Bathroom Design

Our design team reimagined the entire space to create a spacious layout that incorporates every element of the design brief. We positioned the shower on the left as you enter the room to create a large, comfortable shower area, and placed the WC beside it to form a clean, practical linear arrangement. We also set the vanity area as the focal point, making it the first feature seen upon entering the room.

Above the vanity, a large mirror cabinet is installed within a recessed wall, providing both storage and a clean, streamlined look. In the right corner of the room, we positioned a built-in bath area, separate from the shower space as envisioned by the client. Using our CAD system, we created a 3D virtual model of the new bathroom, allowing the client to explore the space and make confident decisions before installation.

Renovation Preparation

Our team carefully prepared the space to ensure a safe and efficient workflow. We laid dust sheets and carpet protectors from the entrance and supplied an 8-yard skip in the driveway for the removal of all debris. We isolated the room’s water supplies and stripped out the existing sanitary ware, tiles, and woodwork, readying the space for the new main bathroom renovation in Edinburgh.

Renovation Approach And Product Selection

We selected the Novellini adjustable inline hinge door in clear glass with a chrome finish, paired with a large rectangular shower tray, for a sleek, modern look. We fitted the shower with a Crosswater Dual Shower Set with fixed head, riser, and kit, delivering both style and functionality. For the bath area, we selected the Bette bath, renowned for its durability and generous depth, providing both comfort and long-lasting quality.

For the vanity area, we selected the Dansani Luna vanity unit and basin with double drawers in oak finish to add warmth and ample storage to the space. To complete the vanity area is a large Dansani mirror cabinet which comes with a shaver point and lighting control. We selected the rimless sanitaryware from Villeroy and Boch paired with the Geberit flush plate. The new bathroom is fitted with premium Keuco accessories.

Installation work

We reconfigured hot, cold, and drainage services to match the new sanitary ware layout as part of the plumbing works. This included installing sanitary ware, a shower, a mirror cabinet, a heated towel rail, and associated accessories. The joinery works included patching floors following the removal of existing pipework and constructing new timber-framed bulkheads. Joinery works also included forming a shower seat, recessed storage, and WC boxing, all in line with the design. We reinstated and re-plasterboarded affected wall areas, and carried out door adjustments and replacement as required.

Tiling works included full waterproofing to the shower area with joint taping, tiling to full height within the shower and to dado level on other areas, and full floor tiling over an insulated sub-floor system. Finishes included chrome profile trims, mid-grey grout and silicone, and underfloor tile warming installation. Electrical works included chrome LED downlights, feature bath lighting, and under-unit basin lighting. We also installed underfloor heating connections, mirror cabinet wiring, and an extractor fan utilising existing ducting and wiring.
