Our client visited our Edinburgh showroom seeking design ideas and inspiration for their en-suite and cloakroom renovation. They envisioned a modern, spacious master en-suite with a large, comfortable shower area. They also wanted a blend of tiles and painted walls that creates a harmonious colour scheme. Our client requested ample storage options to keep their en-suite organised and clutter-free, as well as a spacious layout that offers comfort and easy access.
For their cloakroom, our client envisioned a spacious layout integrating tiling and wallpaper that blended seamlessly and added character. They wanted a soothing colour scheme that unifies the entire cloakroom and creates an inviting space. Our client requested ample storage to keep the space well organised.
Bathroom & Cloakroom Survey
We arranged a site survey with the client to assess the practicality of their vision and the technical requirements needed to bring it to life. Through relaxed, informal conversations, we developed a clear understanding of their personal style, how they intended to use the space, and their preferences for materials, colour palette, and product selection, ensuring an en-suite and cloakroom design that is both thoughtfully and truly personalised to their needs and style.
En-suite renovation design
Our design team reimagined the entire space to create a layout that feels open and airy, while thoughtfully incorporating every element of the design brief. The shower area sits at the end of the room, aligned with the walls to create a large, comfortable, and practical wet area. We placed the vanity unit opposite the shower area, creating a striking focal point that immediately draws the eye upon entering the master en-suite.
Opposite the shower and vanity area, a window recess features a fitted radiator, adding both elegance and style to the space. The WC sits on the right side of the towel rail, leaving a generous central area that enhances the sense of openness and ensures the en-suite feels spacious, exactly as envisioned by the client.
Cloakroom Renovation design
For the cloakroom design, we adopted a linear wall layout, aligning the WC and vanity along one side to maximise space and flow. Positioning the vanity and WC at the end of the room creates a striking focal point upon entry. A large mirror beside the vanity enhances functionality while contributing to the overall style and sense of openness.
Renovation Preparation
To ensure a smooth and efficient en-suite and cloakroom renovation, our team carefully prepared the space. Protective dust sheets and carpet runners were laid from the entrance to safeguard the surrounding areas. An 8-yard skip is provided for the removal of all debris, positioned in the driveway with necessary batons for safety. Existing water supplies to the room are isolated before work begins. We carefully remove the existing sanitary ware and tiles to prepare the space for installing the new products.
Ensuite Renovation Approach and Product Selection
We selected a Novellini adjustable shower panel for the shower area and paired it with a large rectangular shower tray to achieve a modern look and durable finish. We also chose the Crosswater dual shower set, which comes with a fixed head riser and a handset to provide a high-quality and versatile showering experience
We selected the Dansani Luna mirror with adjustable lighting for its distinctive design and practical functionality, completing the vanity area with both style and versatility. We finished the WC area with a Villeroy & Boch rimless WC and paired it with a Geberit flush plate, delivering a clean, streamlined look and reliable performance. Keuco bathroom accessories were selected for their refined finishes and long-lasting performance.
Cloakroom Renovation Approach and Product Selection
We selected the Dansani Luna two-drawer vanity unit for the cloakroom, pairing it with a porcelain wash basin to deliver both elegant design and practical storage. The Hansgrohe single-lever basin mixer, paired with a push-open waste, complements the vanity, combining ease of use with a clean, contemporary finish. The cortina, matt white tiles, and the Vitruvius Gold wallpaper created a soothing and inviting colour scheme. The Villeroy & Boch WC, paired with a Geberit flush plate, was selected to deliver high-quality performance.
En-suite And Cloakroom Installation
Our plumbers carefully adjusted all hot, cold, and drainage services to suit the new sanitary ware, installing the WC, shower, vanity, heated towel rail, and accessories to specification, with all work fully tested. Joiners patched floors, re-plasterboarded affected walls, created a WC bulkhead, and installed the shower tray raised 120mm. Additional installation included removing and refitting the door, making threshold adjustments, and fitting dwangs for the towel rail and basin, ensuring a precise, seamless finish.
We prepared and fixed all wall tiles to dado height, with full-height tiling in the shower area. Our team insulated the floors with Wedi boards before laying the tiles, completed full shower waterproofing, including joint taping, and then carried out grouting and polishing in mid-grey. We also installed underfloor heating and chrome profiles. Electrical work included fitting four chrome LED downlights, under-basin LED lighting with a dimmer, wiring for the mirror, a new Icon15 extractor fan, and connections for the underfloor heating.
