Our client wanted a modern master ensuite with steam room, large mirror cabinets and a large vanity unit. They wanted a natural and soothing colour scheme that would brighten the space and make it feel serene. Our client requested a seating area integrated with the vanity for added comfort during long grooming sessions. They also required a large shower area, including a steam room, with a built-in, ergonomic-style bench for added comfort during a prolonged shower.
Modern Ensuite With Steam Room Survey
We conducted a thorough survey to align the client’s vision with the practicalities of the space. After assessing the existing walls and pipework, we proposed a reimagined layout to create a more spacious and functional design. Through relaxed, informal conversations, we gained a clear sense of the client’s preferred colours, interests, and design elements. This allowed us to personalise the space into a truly bespoke ensuite with steam room.
3D Design
After receiving the survey data, our design team reimagined the bathroom layout using our advanced CAD system to create an open, practical, and luxurious ensuite with steam room. The new design required us to place the double vanity and WC side by side along one end of the room, making the vanity area the central focal point. The steam room is positioned vertically at the end of the space, creating a spacious en-suite and a large activity area with comfort and easy access.
Our design also included an additional recessed mirror for ample storage and simultaneous use and comfort. Our 3D virtual system enabled our client to walk through their en-suite with steam room design, as well as select products, providing a virtual preview of the space before installation. Our client was pleased with our design, as it incorporated every detail from the design brief. They requested minor tweaks, which were made, and approval for installation work was given.

Renovation Preparation
We laid dust sheets and carpet protectors from the entrance to keep the client’s home clean and protected from dust. An 8-yard skip with batons is placed in the driveway for easy and efficient removal of all debris. Our installation team isolate the existing water supply to the bathroom before carefully stripping out the old sanitary ware and tiles. As part of our commitment to quality, we thoroughly check the pipework, subfloor, walls, and ventilation to identify and resolve any issues that could affect the installation of the ensuite with steam room in Edinburgh
Renovation Approach And Product Selection
The steam room setup includes the AW7 Series 7.5 kW Steam Generator with Pure Control, along with AXOR One’s concealed thermostatic module and basic set in chrome. It also features a fixed shower head from Crosswater, an AXOR baton-style hand shower with two spray settings, and a matching porter unit. The Hansgrohe overhead shower and shower arm were also included in the design for their unique style and seamless functionality.
The Novellini rectangular black shower tray added a touch of style and blends in perfectly with the overall colour scheme. We fitted the Matki Eauzone Plus hinged door from wall to recess, creating a sleek, frameless finish while effectively containing steam inside. For added comfort, we installed the Abacus Elements straight shower seat. The Dansani YOU vanity unit, paired with an Ideal Standard washbasin, offered a clean, modern style, finished with a bespoke Silestone top. An Axor in-wall basin mixer completed the look with a refined, minimalist touch.
The Dansani Luna mirror cabinet with two doors was selected for its sleek design and practical features, including integrated lighting, touch control, and a built-in shaver point. Rimless sanitaryware from Villeroy & Boch, combined with a Geberit cistern and flush plate, enhanced the clean, modern style. We selected accessories from Keuco for their exceptional quality and durability, while the matt black Zender towel rail added a stylish finishing touch to the overall design of the master ensuite with a steam room.
Installation Works
As part of the bathroom renovation, the plumbing works included adjusting the pipework to suit the new layout, installing sanitary ware, accessories, and a heated towel rail to ensure a cosy and warm space. Joinery works involved patching floors, facing off the WC wall with recesses, adjusting doors as needed, and fitting supports for fixtures and fittings to ensure a clean, functional finish.
The tiling works included waterproofing and tiling to dado height throughout, with full-height tiling in the shower area, with tiled recesses, splashback, and a floor laid over a Wedi-insulated subfloor. Underfloor tile heating and chrome profiles were fitted, with all tiling grouted and polished. Electrical work included installing LED downlights, floor and recess lighting, new external switches, wiring for the mirror cabinet, and a connection for underfloor heating, all of which were carried out to high standards.
