Accessible Bathroom Renovation In Pitlochry

Design Brief

Our client visited our Perth showroom seeking inspiration for an accessible bathroom renovation in Pitlochry. Their existing bathroom no longer provided the space, accessibility, and functionality required for comfortable everyday use. The compact shower area restricted movement and made the space increasingly difficult to use. The existing tall cabinet had also become difficult to access, as its height limited our client’s ability to reach and use the available storage comfortably.

The brief was to transform their existing bathroom into a more accessible and independent space that supports their mobility and changing needs. Our client wanted a practical wet room with anti-slip flooring, with a bath area as an important part of their daily routine. Thoughtful storage was also essential to keep the bathroom open, uncluttered, and easy to use.

Challenges

One key challenge was creating a more spacious and comfortable shower area within the existing bathroom. Our team needed to reimagine the layout and move the shower screen toward the WC, where the towel rail had previously been. This approach created a larger, more comfortable shower area while maintaining practicality and flow of the space.

Another key challenge was incorporating ample, easily accessible storage without compromising the available space. Our design team redesigned the vanity area to accommodate a wall-mounted cabinet between the bath and vanity, positioned at a comfortable height to keep the space clutter-free and ensure everyday essentials remain within easy reach for the client.

Design Process

Our design team reimagined the entire bathroom, creating a more spacious and functional layout that incorporated every element of the design brief. To improve safety and accessibility, we added slip-resistant Altro safety flooring throughout the bathroom and expanded the shower area for greater comfort, ease of movement, and accessibility.

Using our CAD software, we developed a detailed 3D design that enabled our client to visualise their proposed accessible bathroom before installation. The design incorporated the selected products, colour palette, materials and finishes, providing a realistic visual representation. This allowed our client to make an informed decision before installation commenced.

Our Solution and Installation

We selected a rectangular Bette bath with an anti-slip surface and twin grips for added comfort and security. Paired with the client’s accessible seat, this created a convenient, safe bathing experience. A large vanity unit and wall-mounted cabinet in a soft sky-blue finish, complemented by an hib. mirror, provide ample storage while adding character to the space.

The wet room is completed with a sleek shower enclosure with easy-clean glass for effortless maintenance. The shower set is finished in polished chrome to create a clean, cohesive look while ensuring practical functionality for everyday use. We installed a multi-towel rail in a matt anthracite finish, adding warmth and a contemporary touch to the bathroom.

The renovation involved a carefully coordinated installation across our fully employed team, including plumbers, joiners, tilers, electricians and decorators. Our plumbers modified the hot, cold and drainage systems to suit the sanitaryware, with the bath and WC arm installed to meet the client’s height requirements. Joinery work included re-plasterboarding the walls, creating a bath-area bulkhead, framing out shower walls to conceal pipework, and preparing the floor for Altro flooring.

Our tilers prepared and tiled the bathroom to full height, fully waterproofed the shower area, and completed all sealing and grouting. The electricians refitted the wall heater and emergency pull cord and installed wiring for the mirror and charging point. Our team maintained the highest standards throughout the installation, ensuring a smooth, well-managed renovation completed on schedule.
