Our client visited our Perth bathroom showroom seeking to renovate their downstairs bathroom and create a space that was both elegant and practical. They were looking for a team that could manage the entire project seamlessly, with all aspects of the renovation handled in-house to ensure a smooth and stress-free experience. After exploring our carefully curated showroom displays, they felt confident that our team understood their vision and had the expertise to bring it to life.
Bathroom Survey
Our client wanted a traditional-style downstairs bathroom that included separate shower and bath areas. To assess the practicality of their vision, we carried out a detailed survey of the space. This allowed us to understand the layout, identify any potential challenges, and develop solutions personalised to their needs. Through a relaxed and informative consultation, we discussed their preferences, colour palette, and desired product styles.
Downstairs Bathroom 3D Design
The insights gathered during the survey were shared with our design team, enabling them to develop a personalised and practical solution for our client. The team reimagined the entire downstairs bathroom, optimising the layout to comfortably accommodate both a separate bath and shower. The design team carefully positioned the shower to create a striking focal point upon entering, installing a shower system that enhances the traditional style.
The bath was positioned at the end of the room, beneath a window that allows natural light to fill the space and create a bright, calming atmosphere. The WC sits between the shower and the bath, making efficient use of the layout while ensuring comfort and practicality. Opposite the WC, the vanity was carefully placed to create a clear central area, helping the room feel open, balanced, and easy to move around, whilst providing all the storage required for their household.
To enhance the traditional style, our design team incorporated wall panelling at dado height, paired with a painted upper section to add depth, character, and a timeless finish. Using our CAD system, we then presented the design in 3D virtual reality. This allowed the client to explore the layout, colour scheme, products, and finishes in detail, giving them complete confidence and a clear visualisation of their new downstairs bathroom before installation began.
Downstairs Bathroom Approach And Product Selection
For the bath area, our client loved the Roca Carmen slipper bath in grey, complemented by classic white eagle feet, as displayed in our showroom. The bath area is completed with a chrome pillar-mounted bath shower mixer, adding both timeless style and practical functionality. Crosswater Clear 6 enclosure was chosen for its practical, minimalist style to enhance the overall sense of space and style.
The shower area features a concealed dual-function diverter with a complete shower system in a sleek chrome finish, blending traditional styling with modern practicality. In the vanity area, we selected a backlit mirror cabinet from HIB, paired with the Roca Romea two-drawer vanity unit. This combination provides practical storage while maintaining an elegant look. Our team incorporated tongue-and-groove wall panelling to create a clean, stylish finish that integrates seamlessly with the overall design, enhancing the room’s timeless style.
Preparation Work
We arranged access to the property via the front entrance and laid protective dust sheets and cling-film carpet coverings from the doorway to the work area to safeguard existing surfaces. An 8-yard skip sat on the driveway to efficiently manage debris throughout the process. Before starting work, we safely isolated the existing water supplies. The team then carefully removed all existing sanitary ware, tiles, partitions, and wallpaper, fully preparing the space for the renovation.
Bathroom Installation
Our team completed all plumbing and joinery work to prepare the bathroom for the new design. We repositioned all hot and cold water supplies, along with drainage, to suit the new sanitary ware, including the shower, heated towel rail, mirror cabinet, and accessories. We thoroughly tested all pipework to ensure reliability. The team also repaired floors where required, re-plasterboarded walls, and refitted doors and trims. Structural supports, including dwangs and posts, provide secure fixing points for fittings and the shower screen.
Our team carefully repaired the existing lath and plaster walls and installed a new plasterboard ceiling. They fitted tongue-and-groove wall panelling, complete with dado rails and skirting, to enhance the traditional finish and added a Venetian blind at the window. We fully prepared the shower area and tiled it up to 2,500 mm. They laid the floor tiles over a Wedi-insulated subfloor and fully waterproofed all wet areas to ensure long-term durability and performance.
We carefully fitted chrome profiles and grouted, sealed, and polished all tiles to achieve a clean, refined finish. The electrical installation included chrome-plated LED downlights and under-unit floor lighting. We installed dimmer and standard switches, along with wiring for the mirror cabinet, an outlet for the electric towel rail, and a shaver point to ensure functionality, flexibility, and convenience. A specialist hand-sprayed the vanity to perfectly match the colour of the Roca bath, creating a cohesive and elegant finish.

Our fully employed installation team carried out every aspect of the bathroom renovation with meticulous attention to detail, from the initial preparation to the final finishing touches. By managing the project entirely in-house, we maintained complete control over quality and craftsmanship, resulting in a seamless, stress-free experience for the client.
