Edinburgh Georgian Townhouse Renovation

Lounge area after kitchen refurb

Introduction

The Bathroom Company are proud to have recently completed a multi-room refurbishment Georgian townhouse renovation project for a lovely couple in Edinburgh. The renovations have completely transformed their lives and how they can enjoy their home – “The newly renovated space is a real pleasure to live in.”

This case study will focus on the bathroom aspect of this fantastic project, but we would still like to share details of the overall project. We will be releasing a separate case study focussing on the kitchen aspect, onto our sister company Kitchens2, in due course.

Brief Overall Project Summary

In summary, our client aimed to convert their existing kitchen into an additional bedroom. They planned to relocate the kitchen to a spacious, open-plan dining and lounge area at the front of their Georgian townhouse. Additionally, our client requested that the lounge area be renovated to complement the style and design of the incoming kitchen.

Before this project was completed, our client was unable to invite friends or family over for dinner parties and social events because the kitchen area was too small. By transforming the kitchen into a large, open space, it has “changed how they live and enjoy the property,” as they can now host social gatherings with confidence. Additionally, by creating space for a second bedroom, guests can now stay over, and if our clients ever plan to start a family, they no longer have to move home.

Bathroom Project – Design Brief

Our client had originally heard about The Bathroom Company after a recommendation from their parent’s – whom we had previously completed a project for. Our client had been looking for a solution to their room for approximately six months. They initially approached another company, but they were unable to deliver the designs and quality our client was seeking.

We were more than happy to help. We sat down with our clients and listened to their ideas and the project’s background story. After a site visit, we started designing and drawing their new bathroom. Our client said our drawing was “exactly how they had discussed” and that our design “confirmed that we were the company they wanted to work with.”

With the initial drawing concepts agreed we continued the design process, of which our clients found “straightforward” and said we “translated requests easily into the design”.

Our clients described their existing bathroom as “dark and uninviting, with little storage,” so our goal was to transform it into a beautiful, modern, and luxurious space with ample storage. The brief was handed to our skilled in-house trades team. They began transforming the designated areas in our clients’ Georgian townhouse in Edinburgh.

Bathroom Project – Our Design

At The Bathroom Company, all of our projects are fully project managed and conducted by our experienced in-house designers and trades team. We are very proud of this and we know that it sets us apart from our competitors.

Our client described our trades team as ‘very good, trustworthy, and reliable.’ They appreciated the team’s effort to leave the site tidy at the end of each day, which minimized disruptions to their daily lives.

We pride ourselves on our outstanding customer service and going the extra mile for our customers. Our client said the best feature of our installation team’s customer service was the “daily phone call or message, with project updates and progress reports, as it completely put our minds at ease”.

To make the most out of the space available we removed the bath and instead installed a large, sliding glass door showering enclosure. A Roper Rhodes shower system was the preferred choice, as it creates an indulgent and relaxing shower experience.

By framing out the left-hand side wall to conceal pipework, we were able to create recesses in the partitions. The recesses have allowed our client to place ornaments with sentimental value, collected from travels in. This feature is our clients favourite as previously there wasn’t any space to put them.
To brighten the room, we installed chrome-plated LED lights in the recesses and on the roof. The room is now much brighter and more inviting.

Our client’s bathroom has been transformed into a luxurious, open, and stylish space. It has plenty of storage space for personal ornaments and bathroom amenities.

Our client said that they were “overjoyed” with their new space and the “quality of finishing are to an exceptional standard.” When asked if they would recommend The Bathroom Company, without hesitation our client said: “Absolutely, we would highly recommend The Bathroom Company to anybody seeking to make improvements to their property as the attention to detail was second to none”.
