The Bathroom Company, designer and supplier of luxury, high quality bathrooms and kitchens throughout Scotland, has raised £3,000 for mental health charity SAMH, by completing an unusual aquatic challenge to celebrate its twenty fifth birthday.
The award-winning Edinburgh and Perth based company constructed a specially built craft, constructed from nine baths, and travelled from Glasgow and Edinburgh, along the Union, Forth and Clyde Canals, over a full weekend for fundraising for charity campaign.
The unusual voyage included an early morning ascent in the Falkirk Wheel, with the team of nine receiving support and donations from many people along the way, including assistance from staff at Scottish Canals and the Falkirk Wheel.
With the goal of raising as much money for SAMH as possible, the cash will go towards providing vital mental health support via hundreds of support sessions in over 60 communities across Scotland.
Lawrence Haddow, Managing Director, said: “We have an amazing team of designers and craftsmen who have proved that we can deliver anything! When we put the idea of creating this craft for our charity birthday voyage to the team, they came up with a fantastic design, which has been more than able to comfortably carry nine people.
“We’re delighted to have been able to raise so much money for a charity which is so close to our hearts and is doing such great work to help people who struggle in the area of mental health.
“We wanted to do something worthwhile to mark our twenty fifthbirthday and we know this is pretty unusual! We’re hoping to get into the Guinness World of Records for our achievement; that really would be the cherry on the cake.”
